The automatic IV bag inspection machine is designed for inspecting visible foreign matter and appearance defects in transparent IV bags containing water-based injectable drugs. It effectively detects contaminants such as glass shards, hair, and white particles, as well as appearance-related issues including rubber stopper irregularities and bag deformation.
The automatic IV bag inspection machine uses machine vision technology to inspect visible foreign objects and appearance defects.
During inspection, the IV bag rotates with the turntable. Once the turntable stops, the inertia of the liquid inside the bag causes any foreign particles to continue moving. At this moment, the visual inspection system rapidly captures multiple images. These images are analyzed to determine whether the product contains visible foreign matter and meets the quality criteria.
After being gripped and placed on the inspection platform by a robotic arm, the bag is scanned by industrial cameras. The system captures images of the bag’s exterior and rubber stopper area. Image processing software then analyzes the visuals to detect any appearance defects.
The machine includes 2 sets of inspection stations and 20 high-resolution cameras. Each sample undergoes over 324 image captures for foreign object inspection and more than 2 images for appearance inspection, ensuring reliable defect detection.
This non-contact inspection system is suitable for various types of IV bags used in the medical field, including infusion bags, soft bags for aqueous injections, and single/double-tube hanging-ear IV bags.
